Based in St Albans & Bishops Stortford, The Bishop's Cave is a wine bar with a difference. Offering an outstanding choice of wines accompanied with a deli and offering exceptional food products. The Bishop's Cave also serves a great choice of beers and gins. A lovely cosy and sophisticated wine hang out. The atmosphere is fantastic and this is a great place to enjoy with friends. 

Booking A Table

The Bishop's Cave strongly advises booking if you want to guarantee a table. Especially for Thursday-Saturday after 19:00. However, you don't have to book as tables are available for walk-ins. The Cave does fill up very quickly. You can always call beforehand and they will be happy to let you know about space and availability. Bookings can be made both via the website or by phone. ​

Table Bookings 

Bookings are made for one or two sittings on 12 out of 16 tables at The Bishop's Cave. ​The largest table can fit 8-10 people. If you wish to book for more than 8 people you'll need to call or email the wine bar and they will do their best to accommodate your needs. If you book a table for after 6pm then no more bookings will be on your table unless you have specifically mentioned that you will be leaving at a certain time. If you book a table before 6pm the Bishop's Cave will try to give you as long as possible on that table. ​

Gift Vouchers

The Bishop's Cave offers gift vouchers which are very popular and make the perfect gift. The vouchers are in various denominations and are only available at The Bishop's Cave.

​Do You Sell Coffee?

This question is often asked and The Bishop's Cave does not sell any hot drinks.

​Food Menu

The Bishop's Cave website is the best place to view the menu in full. The Cave offers Cheese Boards & Charcuterie Boards & Mixed Sharing boards. As well as this there are perfect nibbles to accompany your drinks such as antipasti, pate and olives etc.

​Wine, Gin & Beer Tasting

The Bishop's Cave does wine tasting, gin tasting and beer tasting. The Cave has a calendar of exclusive events of tasting sessions in the bar. ​Gin Cave St Albans

On the premises in St Albans, The Gin Cave focuses on the wonderful spirit that is Gin. They have a selection of over 70 small batch gins, interesting beers on tap, a curated wine list available by the bottle or by the glass. Plus, don't forget the perfect nibbles to accompany your drinks. 

​Live Music

The Bishop's Cave has lots of music in the bar from classical Spanish guitar to singer songwriters and DJs. This is usually on Thursday evenings.
