The Three Horseshoes is at the hub of the local community in Norton which is on the outskirts of Letchworth. The pub offers great service and quality food that ensures customers return time and time again. There is a beautiful garden and outside area for the summer which was voted winners of Letchworth in bloom. In winter, the Three Horseshoes has warm open fires for a cosy feel. The food is locally sourced wherever possible and the pubs uses a local a family butchers and bakers that are nearby.

History

The Three Horseshoes on Norton Road is a Grade ll listed early 18th century coaching inn. The pub has offered hospitality to locals and passing travellers for over 400 years. Norton was first mentioned as 'Norotune', the northern enclosed farm, in a charter in the year 1007. The church of St Nicholas opposite the pub dates back to 1109 and the parish suffered badly during the Black Death in the middle of the 14th Century. It recovered to become a lively farming community in the 17th century. The pub's 'School Room' was the site of the Danes School until 1873. After that the local children were taught in the nearby St Nicholas primary school. There is reference to Norton manor in the Domesday Book of 1086 and archaeological excavations show evidence of human activity in the area going back to the Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age, with continuity into the Roman period. The Three Horseshoes building features, including the old tiled roof and brick gable stacks, were protected by its listed status in 1957.

Restaurant

The Three Horseshoes offers traditional food from freshly made sandwiches, baguettes and jacket potatoes at lunchtime to popular chilli beef nachos to see you through until dinner. The menu differs slightly at night catering for all tastes, with burgers, venison pot pie and Atlantic salmon to tempt you. There's also a specials board that is updated daily. The Sunday roasts are particularly popular and booking in advance is advisable.

Function Rooms

The Stables
The recently refurbished Stables offer the perfect surroundings for just about any special occasion. The Stables can accommodate up to 90 seated and up to 130 guests for an informal function. The Three Horseshoes regularly caters for weddings, anniversaries, engagements, meetings and parties. 

The School Room
The area at the far end of the bar is perfect for smaller gatherings. This caters for 40 - 50 people. Again this can be used for meetings, christenings, funerals, private dining and parties.

Quiz Night

The pub quiz night is every Tuesday evening from 8pm. This popular general knowledge quiz has questions for all ages as well as topical bonus rounds every week. Popular with the locals and open to all visitors.  

Gourmet Burger Night

One of the very popular nights is Thurday where you can enjoy one of our gourmet burgers with chips. All burgers are only £10 and food is served from 6-9pm. The burgers vary from the pulled pork 6oz burger, homemade burgers, Buffalo chicken burgers and chicken breast topped with blue cheese & ranch dressing.
