The Golden Lion

Down to earth, friendly and fun!

History

The Golden Lion was established in 1535. Originally as a coaching inn and with King Henry VIII’s saddle stored in the stables, the King was said to have been forbidden from riding. The staircase inside the pub was used by 2nd class citizens if they were allowed in by the owners. Different from nowadays where the current owners have been at The Golden Lion for over a decade.
